Svetlana Kochanova

My main clinical focus has been depression, behavioral therapy, stress, abuse, and crisis counseling. I am sympathetic to the issues, emotional stability, and sensitivity that clients face on a regular basis. I believe that the science of psychology has been too focused on the negative side of client interactions rather than the positive side. My approach is to use positive emotions and experiences to help people work through the symptoms of negative experiences.

Experience

Svetlana was the chair of the Psychology department at Odessa National University for 3 years, after working at the University for many years as a practicing psychologist, helping both students and faculty. Recently, she decided to move into a more therapeutic role again and has made herself available via private practice. Svetlana works mainly with individuals and children.

That is why some of the therapists I know also enjoy doing psychological research, pedagogy, as well as clinical therapy. Read more
